This years Spring Game was a good time. The Texas Tech Red Raiders had there annual Spring Gameon April 14th. This year was highlighted by the new defensive scoring system. The Defense was very strong plus we blitz. The offense was solid but not great. Graham did his thing but his OL allowed TEN Sacks. This is not going to get it done, however if our defense can stop the pass this year were going to be just fine. This years motto: “San Antonio or Bust”
I liked the new show associated with the whole gameday experience. There was a tailgating contest, FB Clinic, Alumni Game, Post Game Autograph Session. The weather was not that great, but it was FB in Spring. The Spring Game will only grow in popularity, next year will have even more people. This year I thought the attendance was weak, but there are so many excuses. I want to thank everyone who came on out to support. We can take the next step, we just need some more support from the students, alumni and especially Lubbock. “Don’t wait to Step Up, YOU STEP UP.”

I was looking at the list of Finalists for the “Who is the greatest athlete in Texas Tech history?“. I noticed there were very few names from before the 80’s. Any greatest Tech Athlete list is a joke without some of the old people from “back in the day”. I would put Swoopes as number one because of her huge performance in the National Title Game in 1993. Which remains TTU’s only NC in any team sport. However, I would like to see an Honorable Mention with some of these names on the 30th:
Honorable Mention
EJ Holub FB
Gabe Rivera FB (Tech’s Sack Leader Senior Sack)
Bobby Cavazos FB (Gator Bowl 1953 MVP)
Ronald Ross MBB (Sweet 16 2005)
Erin Grant WBB

This is the first post on the Bigbobttu’s Legit Forum of Ideas.
In a recent article in the campus newspaper of Texas Tech University, I mentioned that “when we get our National Championship.” I truly believe this. This is not just me saying random stuff, I do believe.
So for my first post on this blog I will give my take on “Claiming my prize!”
Football- Mike Leach and the boys are trying real hard. They showed that in the Insight Bowl. Thus I feel that we could win the whole thing in the next decade. The 2007 Big 12 Championship Game is at the Alamodome in San Antonio so I hope that we can get there.
Men’s Basketball- Bob Knight is the Head Coach, so talking about a NC is not totally out of the question. The team this year is solid probably Sweet 16 team. In the next several years the teams will only get better. The prize will not come as me as a student but very soon after. So the 2-3 year range is real prediction.
Women’s Basketball- As a proud member of Lady Raider Nation, I have be a fan of the team for 3 years now. My sophomore year was going to be the year we claim the prize. However a season ending injury to Dabbs cost us the ultimate prize and even a NCAA berth. This year were playing everyone tough. Thus when Curry’s Top Ten recruiting class come in for my Senior Year let me say I will be stoked. Elite 8 at worst, NC at the Best.
All other TTU sports- Well this is my bread and butter. I will be straight: We have the best Cross Country runner in DI. The Women’s Track and Field Team this week is #4. The Mens Track team is #22. The above mention sports are the only serious threats to claim the NC.
While the other sports might not be NC level in the near future they could be when I am my dad’s age. Most of the small sports on campus are on the rise or holding pat. TTU Women’s Soccer is most definitely on the rise. I will go out on a limb and say the ladies will go to my hometown in November 2007. Because it is home of the Big 12 Women’s Soccer Championship. This year we finished 9th, you need to be Top 8 to go.
Thank You for reading, I will add stuff to the blog as I see relevant.
